The New Braj Community has been given the rare opportunity to create an ideal gurukula offering holistic education to the children of the bhakti-yoga community in Badger, CA. Holistic education addresses a student’s multi-faceted needs encompassing the body, mind, and soul. The New Braj Gurukula offers a complete education in academics combined with a foundation in Vedic philosophy, culture, and the arts.
Our beloved Srila Gurudeva, Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami Maharaja, desired that a dynamic educational institution be established here. He said, “One day, the school will become a light for the world,” and “people will come from all over the world to attend.” He proclaimed New Braj would be the center of his worldwide preaching mission, with the gurukula playing a prominent role in it. “Badger will one day become the center of my mission. And the school will be a big part it.” He also expressed that the gurukula should have its own building with many classrooms to teach varying subjects.
As New Braj embarks upon a ground-breaking expansion period, commencing with a first-class gurukula, we stand witness to the extraordinary realization of Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja’s vision unfolding. This pivotal project ensures a quality educational opportunity for children all over the world and is the catalyst for attracting many devotees to come and join Srila Gurudeva’s mission in establishing New Braj as his worldwide center.

PHASE I – BUILDING RENOVATION BUDGET $100,000
Phase I – Bhakti Projects has purchased land within walking distance to the New Braj temple and is donating use of a facility on the property to be used for the gurukula. The 1,370 sq. ft. building will provide space to accommodate up to 30 children. Once fully renovated, the facility will consist of three classrooms including an open space that will also function as a temple room and group activity area, a corner library, and a restroom.
To fulfill the housing needs of future residents and families, a housing project is currently in development with adjacent real estate parcels for sale to interested parties.
Phase II – 2024 plan for the New Braj Gurukula development project includes a separate, large community center that will host secondary level students. This larger facility will attract more students and qualified teachers to join the community. More information will be available as plans develop for this phase.
