Vaisnava Ladies Seva Ashram

Hare Krishna!

All glories to Sri Guru and Gauranga!

Dear brothers and sisters, please accept my humble obeisances. My name is Indira dasi and I live in Vrindavan, in the Ladies’ Ashram which was established at the request and by the mercy of our Gurudeva. I want to tell a little about the activities undertaken by the women and girls who join our ashram.

The Ladies Ashram is situated in Vrindavan, in “Gopinath Bhavan”. I personally perceive Gopinath Bhavan like my home. We came to Vrindavan from different countries, we have different habits and different ages, but we all have one purpose – we want to develop love and devotion to Guru and Krishna and dedicate our lives to the fulfillment of the mission of our Gurudeva. Every day we begin with a greeting of the Deities, Sri Sri Radha Gopinath and Lord Caitanya. Just as when Srimati Radharani first opened Her eyes when Krishna was first brought in front of Her, and the first person She saw was Krishna, so we, barely awake, hurry to mangala-arati to get darshan of our beloved Thakurji. At about 7 in the morning by the order of Gurudeva and for the pleasure of Sri Radha Gopinathaji we sing bhajans and then read Srimad-Bhagavatam. We all like to cook for the Deities and thanks to Their Divine Grace every one of us has such a wonderful opportunity. Often, especially on holidays, we distribute prasadam to the residents and guests of Vrindavan. We are all working on Gurudeva’s books. This includes: the translation of books into different languages – English, Russian, Spanish, etc., book publication and distribution. We travel to many cities in India (Haridwar, Sikkim, Delhi, Manali, etc.) conducting public programs and distributing the message of Lord Caitanya in the form of our beloved Srila Gurudeva’s books. Moreover, in the walls of “Gopinath Bhavan” is the hari-katha team. Our girls transcribe audio lectures of Gurudeva, publish it on the Internet, and send to thousands of subscribers around the world.

Time continues on, and we are fully dedicated to serving the Vaishnavas, Gurudeva and Krishna – at least we hope that this is so. Each day ends with an evening greeting of the Deities, Gaura-arati. Again, for the satisfaction of Gurudeva and for the pleasure of Krishna, we sing the evening arati and then, taking Krishna to our hearts, quietly go to sleep. The next day we open our eyes and again see Lord Caitanya and Sri Sri Radha-Gopinatha. At the end I cannot but say a couple of words about Vrindavan. Life in Vrindavan is the ultimate dream. Vrindavan is permeated with God consciousness. You can chant the mantra in any place, at any time, at any volume and nobody pays any attention to you, and nobody will be surprised “Oh, what is she mumbling?” Everybody understands. Everyone around here worships the Lord, everyone chants His holy names, everyone performs parikrama and in general life is a fairy tale! There are temples at every step, every piece of land reminds one about pastimes of Radha and Krishna and everything and everyone breathes Krishna even more than the air. And the whole atmosphere is impregnated with Srimati Radhika – every little piece, every atom is permeated with Her mood. She is the hostess of Vrindavan, She is the mistress and patroness, and She is the Queen. All living entities moving and unmoving serve Her with love. Everyone chants Her name; anywhere and everywhere people welcome you: “Radhe Radhe!”

For maintaining our ashram we collect donations, going to Delhi, Manali, and sometimes within Vrindavan. If you have a desire to participate in the maintenance of this great mission of our Gurudeva, we will be happy to accept any help from you – by sponsoring the distribution and publication of Gurudeva’s books, prasadam distribution or helping maintain the ladies who live in the ashram.

We hope for your assistance.
