Gour Govinda Gaudiya Ashram

By the desire of Srila Gour Govinda Swami Maharaj, Srila Prabhupada and Srila BV Narayana Maharaj our Ashram is established. Srila BV Narayan Goswami maharaj wanted it to be the official head quarter of Orissan Preaching from so many perspectives like from communication point of view and historical point of view and spiritual point of view also. He wanted this Ashram to be the center for all major Vaisnava festivals and and book publications . Srila Gour Govinda Swami Maharaja wanted to develop at least 108 Namahatta centers in Orissan villages to restore the great vaisnava culture to the time of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and his associates. Both Srila Gour Govinda Swami and Srila BV Narayana Goswami Maharaja wanted me to sing the Vaisnava songs and Kirtans for propagating the mission of our previous Goudiya Vaisnava Acaryas in Orissa and abroad. We are trying to fulfill the desire of our Guru-vargas by the help of this Ashram.

Already we have published some books in Orissan languages and preaching in villages and towns from time to time. Some of our activities are listed as follows:

HARIKATHA

We share and discuss the topics from Srimad Bhagavatam, Sri Caitany Caritamrta and other vaisnava literatures. We focus more on the explanations of our Guru Vargas on the original texts than only reading.

BOOK DISTRIBUTION

Some time we simply convince people in general and distribute the books of Srila Gurudeva and Srila Prabhupada to public either in the towns or in villages. During this time we invite the sincere persons to our Ashram to participate in our spiritual activities and we try to solve their material problems and help them to enter in the spiritual way of life.

NAMA-HATTA PROGRAMS

We visit different villages, which are not polluted so much by modern civilizations to preach Krishna consciousness. We gather sincere and eager persons and arrange some programs, which consists of bhajans, kirtans, hari-katha and Prasad distribution. We try to encourage people to follow their traditional vaisnava culture. Orissa was over-flooded with the sankirtan movement of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu 500 years ago. Therefore it has a very rich traditional culture of Vaisnavism. We try to help these simple villagers to follow the Vaisnava tradition and to understand the real happiness in the life. Therefore we establish small centers with a small group of new devotees called Nama-hatta Centers . Under our guidance there they chant harinama, learn bhajans and kirtans, discuss Bhagavatam and observe Ekadasi. Gradually it becomes a small temple and a source of inspiration to change the whole village to a Vedic village. It spreads from one village to another.

DEVOTIONAL MUSIC

My Guru Maharajas Srila Gour Govinda Swami Maharaja and Srila BV Narayana Goswami Maharaja wanted me to preach Krishna consciousness by singing the devotional songs. So for the pleasure of my Guruvargas if I get some time I compose the devotional melodies of Sanskrit, Bengali, Hindi and Oriya kirtans and record them with proper classical instruments in studio nearby. Srila Gurudeva often gave His blessings for this endeavour. I find these recordings have become the source of inspiration for many devotees around the world. PUBLICATIONS

By the order of Srila Gurudeva BV Narayan Goswami Maharaj we translate the books of previous Acaryas from other languages to Oriya language for local preaching around Orissa. We have already published many of them. Presently we are trying to translate the oriya articles of Srila Gour Govinda Swami Maharaj to English language. These books are so much significant in our preaching activities.

PREACHING IN WESTERN COUNTRIES

Sometimes we travel to English speaking countries and preach the teachings of our Guru Vargas. When devotees invite us, we fix our preaching tours. We perform harinam, kirtans and harikatha there. Sometimes we organize Lord Jagannatha’s Rathayatra there ,which is very famous. Sometimes we are invited to the radio and televisions for interviews there. We try our best to help devotees there and give our valuable time and association to them. We invite devotees to the holy dhamas in India.
